THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala’s Bineesh K. Shaji has done the country proud by bagging the boys’ 200m silver in the Jean Humbert memorial World Cup in athletics for Schools now in progress at Tallinn in Estonia. According to information reaching here, the St. George HSS, Kothamangalam student was clocked at 22.91s behind Belgium’s Ndirbi Marvin (22.75s) as he won India’s first medal in the championships, which will conclude on June 30. England’s Onajite Okoro was placed third at 23.13s. Bineesh, an eleventh standard student, had won the sprint double besides a silver in the long jump at the 54th National school athletic meet held in Kochi early this year. He is the son of Kothamangalam residents, P.K. Shaji and Beena.— Special Correspondent
