KOCHI: Four players, Tamil Nadu’s J. Sridhar, Ram S. Krishnan, Kerala’s M.A. Joy Lazar and Andhra Pradesh’s C.R.G. Krishna, were in the lead after the penultimate round of the 21st Cusat Open all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament at the Cochin University campus here on Monday evening.
The results (ninth round): Linda Rangarajan (Pud, 7) lost to J. Sridhar (TN, 7.5), Ram S. Krishnan (TN, 7.5) bt Uttam Sharma (TN, 6.5), M.A. Joy Lazar (Ker, 7.5) bt S. Ganesh Babu (TN, 6.5), C.R.G. Krishna (AP, 7.5) bt M. B. Muralidharan (Ker, 6), N.T. Suresh Kumar (Ker, 6) lost to M. Srinivasa Rao (AP, 7), O.T. Anilkumar (Ker, 7) bt D. Salil Kumar (Ker, 6), R. Ganesh (TN, 6) lost to J. Arun (TN, 7), Binju Oommen (Ker, 7) bt Malla Nooka Raju (AP, 6), P. V. Gireesh (Ker, 6) drew with B. Prasanna Krishna (AP, 6), U.C. Mohanan (Ker, 6.5) bt P. V. Santhosh (Ker, 5.5). Srikanth, C.R.G. Krishna bt K.V. Anilkumar, Mohanan bt Mohammed Fasal. Joy for Joy Antony Cochin Port Trust’s Joy T. Antony clinched a double in men’s badminton in the Corporate Champions League, organised by Club FM, here. After winning the singles crown, he bagged the doubles title with Deepak Amarnath. FISL’s Vysakh Ravi also walked away with a double, in table tennis, taking the men’s singles and doubles (with Umamaheshwar) crowns. Final placings: Badminton: Men: 1. Joy P. Antony (CPT), 2.
