PALAKKAD: The District Sessions Court, on Tuesday, remanded Vinu, 25, of Devikulam in Idukki district, who was arrested on the charges of smuggling 105 kg of ganja, in judicial custody for 14 days. Officials of the Excise Department, in a joint operation here on Monday, had seized the dry ganja, estimated at Rs.10 lakh in the illicit drug market, and arrested Vinu from Pannikkode near Kunisseri, Alathur. They also seized the car in which the drug was smuggled. Another person who was in the car escaped. They said the ganja was brought to the State from Goa via Pollachi in Tamil Nadu. The ganja was seized by Narcotic Squad Circle Inspector V.P. Sulesh Kumar, Kuzhalmannam Excise Inspector P.K. Satheesh, Preventive Officers S. Hariharan, Sahadevan, K.R. Ajit, S. Ali and Hassan.
