Water released from Barur lake

Farmers urged to utilise water judiciously

KRISHNAGIRI: Collector P. Shanmugam released water from Barur Big Lake for first crop in the presence of E.G. Sugavanam, MP, on Wednesday.

Water for the first crop would be released till November 28 (150 days) from east and west main canals.

Water will be released for five full days at the first instance.

Due to this, the total ayacut of 4,729.25 acres will be benefited.

Villages which will benefit from Barur water include Barur, Keezhkuppam, Puliyur, Kottapatti, Pendarahalli, Thathampatti, Jingalthirampatti, Arasampatti and Viruppampatti.

After releasing the water, Mr. Shanmugam advised the farmers to utilise water judiciously so as to benefit all the farmers in these villages.

M.R. Rajendran, District Panchayat President, Gouthaman, Sub-Divisional Officer, Public Works Department, and Waters Users’ Association presidents Paramathma, M. Dharman, M. Arjunan, Kasinathan, Nagaraj and V. Pandiyan and others participated.
