MAJESTIC: A view of Subramania Swamy Temple in Tiruchendur. — TUTICORIN: Kumbabishekam of Subramania Swamy Temple at Tiruchendur, the second of the six abodes of Lord Muruga, will be performed on Thursday between 10.30 a. m. and 11.05 a.m. As many as six lakh devotees from across the country are expected to participate in the consecration, which was last performed in 1995. Security beefed upSecurity has been beefed up for the grand event with the deployment of 2,500 police personnel in the vicinity of the temple. Superintendent of Police T. Senthil Kumar is camping in the town. Three temporary bus stands have come up in Tiruchendur for the benefit of devotees. Parking lotsBuses from Tirunelveli will be parked near Isakki Amman Temple on Tirunelveli main road. Buses plying from Madurai and Tuticorin will be parked at Rajakanna Nagar ground behind Aditanar College. The parking lot for buses from Nagercoil, Kanyakumari and Uvari will be near Muruga Madam. Barricades have been put up at various places around the temple and on the seashore to regulate the flow of devotees. Green pass holders can park their vehicles at Senthil Murugan Boys Higher Secondary School ground and in the vacant space near Thilagam Lodge and near Ayyavali Temple Road in Nalikinaru. Red pass holders can park their vehicles behind temple cottages. A helpline, with numbers 04639 – 242241, 246100, 245100, will be in operation to help devotees. Four lakh litres of drinking water will be kept for devotees.
