Singapore on Wednesday confirmed 82 new cases of Influenza A(H1N1), bringing the total number of such cases to 783 in the country. According to a statement issued by Singapore’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday night, so far, most cases of Influenza A(H1N1) in the country are mild, and 300 have fully recovered and the rest are recuperating. Singapore reported its first confirmed case of Influenza A(H1N1) on May 27. In the initial period of the influenza’s outbreak, most of cases are imported ones with travel history from affected countries such the United States and Australia. But the outbreak has since progressed from merely imported cases to local community transmission as of June 26, this year. With more local transmission cases, Singapore is in the process of moving from containment to mitigation, the ministry said. — Xinhua
