ISLAMABAD: Pakistan handed over on Wednesday a list of Indian prisoners in Pakistani prisons to the Indian government through the Indian High Commission here. The two sides are supposed to exchange lists of each other’s nationals in their custody twice a year, as per the May 2008 consular access agreement aimed at facilitating early release of these prisoners. The dates fixed for the exchange of the updated lists are January 1 and July 1. But India defaulted both times this year, and has been unable, for unspecified reasons, to provide Pakistan with a list of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails.
