Monsoon advances

NEW DELHI: Southwest monsoon has further advanced in to the remaining part of Haryana, Punjab and into part of extreme northwest Rajasthan. Northern limit of monsoon passes through 25ºN/60ºE, 25ºN/65ºE, Udaipur, Jaipur, Hissar and Sriganganagar.

Heat wave conditions have abated from west Rajasthan.

RAINFALL: Monsoon has been active in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.

Rain/thundershowers have occurred at many places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, at a few places in east Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and at isolated places in west Rajasthan.

Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: ( 3 cm and more) HARYANA: Ambala 7, Kanina 6, Assandh and Panipat 5 each, Berikhas, Safido and Jatusana 4 each and Pataudi, Dujana, Narwana, Pilukheri, Sahbad, Ateli, Masani barrage. Sonipat and Mustafabad 3 each, HIMACHAL PRADESH: Gohar 4 and Kasauli, Bangana and Una 3 each, PUNJAB: Bhatinda 7, Ludhiana 5 and Desuya, Mukerian, Phillaur, Phagwara, Derabassi and Ropar 3 each, EAST RAJASTHAN: Baseri 8, Bayana and Bundi 4 each and Lolsot, Bari and Todabhim 3 each, WEST UTTAR PRADESH: Agra, Meerut and Bagpat 3 each, and UTTRAKHAND: Uttarkashi 3.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 3rd July 2009: Rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and at a few places in rest of the region. Isolated thunder squall is likely in Haryana and Punjab.Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely at a few places in east Uttar Pradesh. Isolated heavy rain is also likely in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand during next 48 hours.

FORECAST FOR DELHI AND NEIGHBOURHOOD VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 3rd July 2009: Generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thundershowers, one or two may be heavy in some areas.
