Training programme for domestic helps

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: A pilot training programme to impart skills to domestic workers and household assistants in Delhi and Noida will be organised in the Capital this Saturday.

It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Being organised jointly by the Delhi Government, the Union Labour and Employment Ministry and the International Labour Organisation, the programme is aimed at improving the services of domestic workers as well as enhancing their employability and living and working conditions.

The pilot programme will initially target 250 trainees before scaling up to cover a large number of domestic workers.

The successful trainees will get official recognition of their skills – a National Council for Vocational Training certificate – at the end of the training.
