Students of Prabhath Public School, Udayamperur, learned more about Nature from close quarters recently. On June 12, the nature club of the school organised a tour of Vembanad lake for 160 selected students. They saw the beauty of the lake as well as the big threat that challenged its existence. Students saw how, in the name of development, vast areas of the lake were being encroached upon for luxurious apartments and skyscrapers. Students learned about the looming ecological crisis resulting from the narrowing of the lake. They returned aware of their role in preserving Nature and its precious resources. Toppers felicitated Hiren S. Nair and Aparna Menon, toppers of the ISC and ICSE batches of MES Udyogamandal School during 2008-09, could not thank their alma mater enough. It was a day of pride and happiness for the school as students leaving the school showered encomiums on its diverse learning atmosphere. The guest of honour of the day was Dr. Divakaran Nair, Regional Director of IGNOU and an eminent educationist. Hiren and Aparna expressed their gratitude towards the school and teachers. Team leaves for U.K. A team comprising 25 students and five teachers of the Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, has left for the U.K. The team left on June 22 and will return on July 11.
