VISAKHAPATNAM: For the calorie conscious, this is one food festival that won’t leave you with a feeling of guilt at the end of a delicious feast. To herald in the monsoon season, Hotel Green Park has dished out a steamy delicious affair at the ongoing momos and steam roll food festival at its Tulips restaurant.

Momos and steam rolls are traditional delicacy and origins from the oriental cuisine. Momos are made with simple flour and water dough. White flour is generally preferred and sometimes a little yeast or baking soda is added to give a ‘doughy’ texture to the finished product.

The filling is done with minced meat, chicken and assorted seafood along with the fresh spices like garlic, spring onion, coriander, mushroom, bamboo shoots, salt and pepper. Steam rolls are filled with the choices from vegetarian and non-vegetarian and mixed with fresh chopped spices, which are rolled and then steamed.

After being steamed the mouth-watering delicacy of momos and steam rolls are served steaming hot in a bamboo box.

The varieties include steam chicken roll, steam chicken momo, steam seafood momo, steam mutton momo, steam seafood roll, steam cheese momo, steam cheese spinach roll, steam vegetable momo. All the items are served along with veg clear soup and sauce.

Most momos have their stuffing packed in like a lead pellet, but not here. The covering didn’t collapse in an apologetic heap when pierced either. “This is the perfect flavour of the season.

Low in calorie but highly delectable, the festival is an ode to the season. And there are many more feasts lined up for the coming weeks,” says General Manager of Hotel Green Park Mr. K.M. Rao. The festival is open for dinner from 7.30 p.m. and will go on till July 12.
