THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vacancies of lecturers in aided colleges will be filled this month itself, Minister for Education M.A. Baby has said. Replying to questions in the Assembly on Thursday, Mr. Baby said the workload of lecturers in aided colleges had to be assessed. Vacancies of lecturers, in government and aided colleges, have to be filled before introducing the credit and semester system. A three-tier system has been envisaged to redress complaints about the introduction of the system. Complaints will be dealt with at the department, college and university levels. There was no compulsion on universities to implement the system this year itself. Kerala University has decided to implement it next year. It will be extended to students of distance education in the next phase. Universities will have the autonomy to make alterations in the syllabus within the framework laid out by the Higher Education Council.
