MAHABUBNAGAR: The unconditional apology tendered by Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannath was unacceptable to the leaders and employees of AP Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB), said A. Krishna Rao, regional secretary of the bank employees association, Mahabubnagar region. He told The Hindu on Thursday that the MP should apologise at Hyderabad by holding a press conference along with their State-level union leaders, but not at New Delhi. He also demanded that the two SC candidates, Bakkaiah and Vijay Kumar, who foisted a case under SC, ST Atrocities Act against the Uppunuthala bank branch manager, Ravinder Reddy, at the behest of Manda Jagannath, should withdraw it in writing. Work resumes“Till then we will continue our agitation,” he said. However, general work and commercial operations have been resumed in all the 77 branches of the Grameena Vikas Bank in the district on Thursday but the employees did not take up any loaning business of government-sponsored schemes and kharif crop loans. “We will stop all types of loan disbursement activities pertaining to government schemes and kharif loans till Jagannath acts in accordance with our two demands,” he said. The union leader thanked the media for exposing the highhanded behaviour of the MP. He also thanked the Congress high command for reprimanding the MP. Delay defendedThe regional secretary of the bank defended some delay in releasing loans at the Uppunuthala branch of the APGVB. As the Uppununthala branch is of scale II grade it should have at least six employees but there are only two employees now. However, Mr Ravinder Reddy is doing his best in sanctioning the loans. He sanctioned loans to many farmers engaged in floriculture in the area besides providing Rs.5,000 incentive to 1,300 farmers who repaid their crop loans in time, he said.
