Special Correspondent

GUNTUR: Latest in a series of acid attacks in the district, is that of a 30-year-old man Bullabbai. The man threw acid over his wife and two-year-old daughter on Thursday, causing severe burns. The condition of both is said to be critical.

The incident took place at 3.30 a.m. at Yellamanda village in Narsaraopet mandal, while both woman and her child Illa Sivaparvati, 25, and her 18-month-old Meenakshi, were asleep.

The Narsaraopet rural police, who arrested Bullabbai said that family disputes had led to Sivaparvati coming to her parents’ house in Yellamanda. Her husband Bullabbai wanted her to return to their village Thikkireddipalem in Prattipadu mandal. While Sivaparvathi with 40 per cent burns was serious yet with hope of recovery, the baby with 80 per cent burns was battling with life at Government General Hospital here, the GGH Superintendet D. Earlier victims

Meanwhile, the condition of two other ‘burn’ case victims of Karlapalem who were admitted three days ago was also critical.
