THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Sports Minister M. Vijayakumar on Thursday informed the Assembly that the State government would give Rs.3 lakh as emergency assistance to Bineesh K. Shaji, who won the silver medal in the 200m race in the Jean Humbert Memorial World Cup Athletics for Schools in Estonia recently. Replying to a debate on the demand for grants for his department, Mr. Vijayakumar said the State government would take up the responsibility of providing for his education and sports training. His coach, Raju Paul, would also be given due recognition. A sports complex, as part of the State government’s proposed sports package, would be set up in Kothamangalam.
