Bangla to restore ties with Pakistan

Karachi: Apparently feeling ignored in India’s FTP draft, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has renewed efforts to restore friendly ties with Pakistan by proposing to host Younis Khan and Co. in October.

The BCB had postponed its home series against Pakistan in March after the Government refused to give security guarantees to the PCB because of the military mutiny in Bangladesh.

But the patch-up work was attempted at the meeting held in London last month to resolve the issue of Pakistan being deprived its share of the 2011 World Cup matches.

“Bangladesh has been snubbed by India in their draft for the new future tours program which is why they are seeking Pakistan’s support,” the source said.

Reliable sources in the PCB said a senior BCB official had spoken to chief operating officer Saleem Altaf about the possibility of Pakistan touring Bangladesh in October.

“The Bangladesh board feels the security situation in their country is now normal and they can host Pakistan for the five one-day matches that were postponed in March,” one source told PTI.

“The Bangladesh board now believe that conditions in their country are normal and Pakistan should fulfil its commitment,” the source said. — PTI
