Government to honour Balamurugan

CHENNAI: The government will take steps for awarding Balamurugan of Uthangarai [in Tirupattur in Vellore district] too for securing 1,184 marks in the higher secondary examination, School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu told the Assembly on Thursday.

During zero hour, C. Gnanasekaran (Congress) said Balamurugan, after re-totalling of his marks, had emerged topper in the examination. The present first rank holder had scored 1,183 marks. So, he should also be given the prize given to other rank holders.

The Minister said it had to be ascertained whether the candidate had scored 1,184 marks on re-totalling or re-valuation. Irrespective of this, the government would make efforts for giving him the prize after consulting the Chief Minister.
