AT REST: Fishing boats anchored at a beach near Chettuva, Thrissur district. The sustained implementation of the monsoon trawling ban in the past two decades in the State has significantly increased the marine fish catch as is evident from last year’s catch which touched an all-time high of 6.72 lakh tonnes. Fishing using trawl-fitted nets is highly damaging during the monsoon as it traps fish of all sizes including eggs and larvae.
