‘Drama to defame MLA’

TDP alleges Congress conspiracy in nursing college case

HYDERABAD: The alleged sexual harassment of girls studying in a nursing college run by Kovvur Telugu Desam MLA T.V. Rama Rao has turned into a blame game between the Opposition TDP and the ruling Congress.

While the TDP accused the Congress of indulging in ‘mud-slinging’ against the Opposition, the ruling party defended the CID probe into the charges levelled against the TDP legislator.

The TDP advised the Congress to stop playing with the lives of innocent girls in its bid to take on the Opposition parties.

It took strong exception to the “drama” being enacted by the Congress to defame Mr. Rama Rao. TDP MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy, D. Narendra, M. Narsimhulu and others recalled that similar charges of harassment were made in respect of a college owned by APCC president D. Srinivas’ family, but the government remained a mute spectator.

The Congress Legislature Party, however, took strong exception to Mr. Rama Rao’s charge that the ruling party was trying to ‘fix’ him. Government Chief Whip M. Bhatti Vikramarka said it was highly unbecoming of the MLA to charge that the nursing students from Kerala had levelled false charges against him.

He sought to know why the TDP leaders were raising a hue and cry over the case being handed over to the CID.
