Development works for 81 panchayats at Rs. 1 crore

TIRUCHI: Eighty-one panchayats from 14 panchayat unions in Tiruchi district have been selected for implementing various development works under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam during the current year 2009-2010 and Rs. 1 crore would be spent by various departments, said T. Soundiah, Collector, here on Tuesday.

Presiding over a meeting with the officials to discuss the implementation of works under the scheme, the Collector said that the Government would provide Rs.20 lakh and the balance amount of Rs.80 lakh would be borne by the various departments. He pointed out that development works like creation of new ponds, improvements to burial grounds, establishment of sports grounds, library, cement roads, protected drinking water supply would be taken up in each panchayat. The meeting was attended by S. Murugan, Project Officer (in charge), DRDA.
