Medicos to continue stir

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Dissatisfied with the Tamil Nadu government’s proposed stipend hike, members of the Tamil Nadu Non-Service Medical, Dental, P.G. students and Trainee Doctors Association have resolved to continue their stir.

It is estimated that around 3,000 people are affected by the low stipend rates. In a statement, they resolved to strike work until their demands are met. They have also asked to meet Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to make a representation.

On Saturday morning, the government announced that the Chief Minister had authorised an extra expenditure of Rs.9.60 crore for the exchequer by upping the stipends for the house surgeons, P.G. trainees and super specialists.
