Three cows electrocuted in Udupi

Udupi: Three cows were electrocuted and four houses damaged due to rain accompanied with winds in Udupi district on Sunday.

According to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, a person Ashok Kanchan (33) was killed when he was stuck by lightning at Devalakunda village in Kundapur taluk on Saturday. There was flooding in the Nittur area of Udupi city on Sunday.

According to the Udupi Taluk Office, three houses were damaged due to rains. The house of Baby Shedti in Hanehalli village was damaged. The “kacha” house of Lakshmi Salian was damaged when a coconut tree fell on it. The damage is estimated at Rs. 25,000. The house of Sundar Mulya in Kurkal village was damaged and the cost of damage is estimated at Rs. 12,000.

According to the Kundapur Taluk Office, the house of Annappa Harijana in Hengavalli village was damaged due to rains.

According to the Karkala Taluk Office, three cows were electrocuted when they came into contact with a broken live electricity wire.

An agricultural field was damaged when loose soil from an elevated area fell on it. The damage is estimated at Rs. 40,000.

Dies

Sharada Naik (60) died when she fell into a drain at Kattebettu in Yeralapady village on Sunday.

However, the Karkala taluk office could not confirm whether the death was due to rains.

Udupi district received an average rainfall of 198.6 mm in the last 24 hours, ending at 8 a.m. on Sunday. The rainfall received in the three taluks of the district is Udupi – 195.8 mm, Kundapur – 165.4 mm, and Karkala – 234.6 mm.
