This Day That Age
In commemoration of the 183rd anniversary of the independence of the United States of America, a reception was held by Mr. Thomas W. Simons, American Consul-General in Madras on July 4. Mr. Simons said the independence of U.S. was old, compared with countries in some of the older continents in the world. Since 1945, nine Asian and five African countries had achieved their independence and they were also witnessing how some more were struggling to attain their independence. The people of U.S. rejoiced with all other independent people and knew that independence required vigilance.
