Two killed in separate road accidents

CHENNAI: A man and woman died in separate road accidents on Saturday night.

According to Elephant Gate traffic investigations, Sankar (34), a heavy-vehicle driver with Neel Metal Fanalca was knocked down by an MTC bus inside the old mofussil bus terminus on North Fort Road near Esplanade police station. He died on the spot. Police are searching for the bus and its driver.

In another incident, a 48-year-old woman, Mary, was injured after a speeding autorickshaw knocked her down while she was crossing the road near Wall Tax Road junction on Saturday night.

Bystanders rushed her to the Government General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday morning. The victim’s husband Munisamy had noted down the registration number of the autorickshaw and informed the police.
