Bellary
At present, programmes are relayed between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Studio construction in Bellary moving at snail’s pace: Shantha BELLARY: J. Shantha, Bellary MP, has urged Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni to ensure that the All India Radio (AIR) Frequency Modulation (FM) station in Bellary functions as a full-fledged relay centre by extending its broadcast till 11 p.m. Memorandum
Ms. Shantha, during her meeting with the Union Minister, submitted a memorandum and drew the latter’s attention to the fact that at present the FM radio station relayed programmes broadcast by the Bangalore FM station for a limited period, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.) According to Ms. Shantha, the FM radio station here is the 14th in the country. Bellary is the only district in the country to have two radio stations within a radius of 60 km of each other (the FM radio station in Hospet, 60 km from Bellary, is unable to cater for the needs of listeners in Bellary because of the hills obstructing radio waves). She said that work on construction of the studio and equipping it was going on a snail’s pace. Plea
She requested the Union minister to ensure that broadcast of programmes from Bangalore was continued after 10 a.m. and instruct the officials concerned to expedite work on the studios and install the required equipment.
