4 arrested, rice seized

KRISHNAGIRI: Prohibition Enforcement Wing of Krishnagiri Police arrested 4 persons and seized 30 tonne of ration rice here on Thursday morning.

Additional Superintendent of Police (PEW) D. Magesh Kumar told The Hindu that two lorries with registration numbers TN 27Y 8575 and TN 45 Q 8317 were seized with 260 bags ration rice near Shoolagiri on the Bangalore-Chennai National Highway. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the rice was being illegally transported to Bangarupettai in Kolar district in Karanataka from Pollachi.
