VIJAYAWADA: The different committees and cells affiliated to the city Congress Party are going to be re-constituted with active party workers. PCC secretary and party observer M R T Vinod Reddy addressing a press conference here on Thursday said that Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was very unhappy with the performance of the party candidates in the recent elections. Mr Vinod Reddy said that he had conducted closed-door meetings with the heads of different committees told them to re-constitute their teams in a time-bound programme. The party organisation would be geared up keeping in view the local body elections that would be held in 2010, he said. The amount of votes polled by the party candidates in the various Assembly constituencies and those polled by the Lok Sabha candidate in the respective municipal divisions were reviewed with the concerned corporator, Mr Vinod Reddy said. The corporators gave changing caste equations and sabotage by rogue leaders as the cause for the party’s poor performance in the elections. Strategies to over come the setbacks were discussed in the meeting, Mr Reddy said. Mr Reddy said that the PCC was going to conduct Assembly Constituency-wise meetings also. A meeting would be held in Vijayawada Central Constituency on July 18. Similar meeting would be held for Vijayawada East and West Constituencies most probably on July 19, he said.
