Heart Failure Clinic launched

CHENNAI: Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) on Thursday launched a Heart Failure Clinic (HFC) to provide comprehensive management for a highly fatal cardiac condition.

SRU Chancellor V.R.Venkataachalam opened the HFC which will offer a gamut of interventions including modern protocols, drugs, implantable devices and transplantation. Patient education and lifestyle counselling form important components of the disease management manual. Cardiologists, clinical psychologists, nurses, nutritionists and medial social workers will team up to provide multi-disciplinary care.

“We plan to establish a registry to gather epidemiological data and undertake basic and clinical research,” said S. Thanikachalam, director, Cardiac Care Centre at SRU.
