Fish festival at People’s Plaza

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: In what is said to be a maiden attempt, the city will host a three-day festival ‘INFISH 2009’, the Indian Fish Festival, an initiative of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) aimed at creating awareness among people on fish as a healthy food. It will be held from July 11 to 13 at People’s Plaza.

NFDB’s Chief Executive P. Krishnaiah said in a press release on Thursday that the objective was to bring stakeholders including fish farmers, technocrats, feed manufacturers, traders, consumers and research and development organisations under one platform. They will discuss the latest developments in production technologies and marketing of fish and fishery products, he said.

INFISH 2009 will showcase a collection of freshwater and marine ornamental fish with one of the attractions being a display and sale too, of seahorses and Vastu fishes. Also, visitors will get to taste a variety of food like fish kababs, cutlets, deep fried fish, prawn and other seafood. Entry is free.
