HYDERABAD: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has barred Flytech Aviation Academy from using the Nadergul airstrip on the city suburbs from Wednesday. Owing to this, students pursuing different courses in the academy are unable to undergo flying training at the airstrip. The action follows a court direction in favour of the AAI a few days ago after which the airfield allotted to the academy was sealed. The AAI’s contention was that the academy was using more land than what was allotted to it. Even though the AAI reminded it the academy continued to use more land, the AAI officials said. However, the academy management denied any violations in using the airfield and maintained that the airstrip was sealed following a terror alert. Senior government officials from Delhi inspected the airfield a few days ago stating that some foreigners in the guise of students were undergoing training in the academy. Accordingly, the airfield was closed for security reasons since Wednesday, the academy Senior Manager (Administration and Finance) B. Vara Prasad said. “It may be opened within a couple of days,” he maintained. He asserted that there were no irregularities in use of the land. “We are also ready to show all the documents pertaining to the academy,” he offered.
