Seeking help: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Kovvur legislator T.V. Rama Rao after submitting a memorandum to Governor N.D.Tiwari in Hyderabad on Thursday. — HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has warned the government of serious consequences if it goes ahead with the arrest of the party’s Dalit MLA from Kovvur T.V. Rama Rao on foisted case of rape and murder. When contacted, a senior police officer, however, ruled out the arrest saying investigation was still under progress. Mr. Naidu sent out the warning after submitting a memorandum to Governor N. D. Tiwari at Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening. He went there along with Mr. Rama Rao and several other party MLAs. MLA breaks downMr. Rama Rao touched the feet of the Governor and broke down while explaining how he was being framed by the government for a ‘crime’ he had not committed. This was nothing but persecution of a Dalit MLA, he said while seeking protection. Mr. Naidu told the Governor how the government was pursuing the case though there was no trace of the so-called victim of rape and murder. No evidenceThe local police made no case as there was no evidence, while forensic team dismissed the purported blood stains as red oxide. Having failed to establish the rape and murder case, the government was now falsely accusing the MLA of harassing nursing students. In the memorandum, the Telugu Desam MLAs said the government was targeting Opposition members, “the modus operandi being blackmail, terrorising and hounding us out of public life.”
