One more held in Kandhamal nun rape case

BHUBANESWAR: More than ten months after the alleged rape of a Catholic nun during the Kandhamal riots, one more wanted person was arrested on Thursday, raising the number of those held in the case to 18.

Police said Ghanshyam Bishoyee was rounded up from K Nuagaon in the Baliguda area of Kandhamal district, in connection with the alleged rape of the 29-year-old nun. Bishoyee played a major role in abetting the offender during the incident on August 25, 2008, in the aftermath of the killing of VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati on August 23, a senior crime branch officer said.

The nun has already identified three of the 17 persons arrested earlier. — PTI
