PUDUCHERRY: To approach the Central government for funds for disbursing old-age and widow pension, the Department of Women and Child Development requires details of beneficiaries of pension schemes, who possessed red ration cards. It has asked the beneficiaries to approach the department with required documents for registration. In a release, the department said that the old-age and widow pension scheme was being implemented with funds from the Centre. Details of old-age pension beneficiaries who were aged above 65 and had red ration cards and widow pension beneficiaries in the 40-64 age group and possessed red ration cards were required to approach the Centre for funds. If persons aged above 65 years who received old-age pension through banks and post offices had red ration cards, they should bring pension books, red ration cards and voters identity card to register themselves at the department. Similarly, widow pension beneficiaries in the 40 to 64 age group, who possessed red ration cards, should bring their pension book, ration card and voters identity card for registration to the department. However, beneficiaries who had provided the required details through anganwadi centres need not come to the department.
