Lord Astor (73) has resigned as Chairman of The Times Publishing Company, which publishes The Times. His eldest son Mr. Gavin Astor (41) has been elected Chairman to succeed him. Lord Astor retains the office of chief proprietor with John Walters and remains a member of the Board.
