Third seed Parimarjan Negi moved within half a point of the leaders after spoiling the Grandmaster-norm prospects of compatriot S. Satyapragyan. The 16-year-old now plays top-seeded Ukrainian Sergey Fedorchuk, the conqueror of Mary Ann Gomes. Besides, Negi and Fedorchuk, there are four other players at 4.5 points.

S. Kidambi defeated Spain’s Eric Dominguez to reach 4.5 points after six rounds of the 32nd Barbera del Valles International Open tournament at Barbera del Valles.
