Bangalore: Avi Barot’s 76 and Jaidev Unadkat’s five-wicket haul helped West defeat East by 30 runs in a Raj Singh Dungarpur Trophy NCA inter-academy under-19 tournament semifinal at the IAF Ground here on Friday. In the other rain-marred semifinal, North while chasing a revised target of 96 from 20 overs, registered a six-wicket victory over Central. The scores (semifinals): West 208 for eight in 50 overs (Avi Barot 76, Manpreet Juneja 36, Abhijit Karambelkar 33, Kundan Singh four for 36, Mani Shankar Mura Singh three for 41) bt East 178 in 40.4 overs (Maninder Singh Kalsi 48, Sudeep Chatterjee 35, Jaidev Unadkat five for 36); Central 124 for eight in 26 overs (Harpreet Singh 64, Md. Khalid 33, Sandeep Sharma four for eight) lost to North 96 for four in 16.4 overs (Himanshu Chawla 41 n.o.). Due to rain, North’s target was revised to 96 from 20 overs. Amogh, Aishwarya winAmogh Athani and N. Aishwarya won the cadet boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively in the State-ranking table tennis tournament at Dharwad on Friday. The results (finals): Cadet boys: Amogh Athani bt Sucheth Shenoy 10-12, 4-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9. Cadet girls: N. Aishwarya bt S. Anjana 11-7, 11-6, 11-5. Indian bodybuilding squadSix body builders and two officials will represent India in the 43rd Asian bodybuilding championship to be held at Tehran from August 2 to 8.
