Protest against killing of two in police firing

Guwahati: The police resorted to baton charge here on Friday to disperse a mob which pelted stones and gheraoed a police station protesting against the death of a truck driver and his helper in police firing on Thursday.

The two were killed when a constable fired at them for damaging the car of Superintendent of Police of CID, Mridulananda Sarmah, near the National Games Village in Lokhra Chariali area here on Thursday night.

The vehicles were involved in a collision.

Mr. Sarmah and his family members were injured in the accident. — PTI
