CHENNAI: Three juveniles have been held in connection with the murder of a 73-year-old woman in Thiruvalluvar Nagar. According to the police, one of them was running a mobile ironing unit in front of the house of the victim, Lakshmi Kutti. He had noticed that the victim went out every month to get her pension. Along with his two friends, he planned to rob her when she was alone. On June 27, one of them knocked at her door and asked for a glass of water. When Lakshmi Kutti went in to fetch water, the other two rushed into the house and hid themselves. When she returned with water, the duo allegedly stabbed her on the stomach and slit her throat. They escaped with Rs.700 and a cell phone. The trio divided the money among themselves. The victim, a widow, was found dead by her son. The police have recovered Rs.270 in cash, the knife used for the murder and the cell phone. The accused will be presented before the Juvenile Justice authority, a press release stated.
