Bangalore: Bangalore city has witnessed seven deaths in five road accidents since Thursday. The police attributed the accidents to “reckless driving, drunken driving, negligence and bad roads”. Four of the drivers abandoned their vehicles and fled, they said. Six of the victims died on the spot, while the other died on the way to hospital. The police are yet to make arrests in connection with these accidents. The accidents were reported on Bellary Road near Devanahalli, Ring Road near Mahadevapura, M.R. Jayaram Colony near Mathikere, Mariyappanapalya near Fraser Town, and on Gunjur Palya–Doddanekkundi Road near Whitefield. Kalamma (45) and Muniyamma (38), who were sitting on the kerb waiting for a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus, died when a goods carrier rammed them at Guduvanahalli near Devanahalli on Friday. Pradeesh (32) and Biju (36), garment factory employees, died when a lorry hit their two-wheeler near Fraser Town. Alfroze (46), a carpenter, died when he slipped and fell from a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus which he was trying to board near Mariyappanapalya. K. Prabhakar Reddy, a taxi-driver, lost his life when his two-wheeler fell into a roadside ditch on the Gunjurpalya-Doddanekkundi Road near Whitefield. T. Girish, an LKG student and son of a painter, was run over by a Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike lorry near Mathikere. The police have registered cases.
