Robbers slash woman’s ears, steal earrings

KOZHIKODE: Robbers slashed the ears of an elderly woman to take away her nine-sovereign earrings at Kayappanachi, near Iringannur, in Nadapuram early on Saturday.

The police said Mariyu, 70, wife of Chalarathu Anthru, was sleeping at her house when robbers forced her to the kitchen and slashed her ears in order to remove the earrings. They threatened her two sons with knives and escaped through the kitchen door. Later, she underwent a surgery at the Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital at Thalassery.
