Two die after inhaling poisonous gas

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Two persons died after inhaling poisonous gas at a chemical lab on Friday. According to the police, the victims — electrical engineer Pavan Kumar (23) and mechanic Deepak (21) — had gone to the lab that manufactured gas for various industries in Harpanahalli, Jigani Industrial Area, falling under Bannerghatta police station limits. It is said that the people living in the area had protested several times about the bad smell. The officials at the lab deputed the two victims to check whether there was a gas leak. The police said that the two collapsed while they were trying to repair the leak. They were immediately shifted to Narayana Hrudayalaya, where they died later.

The police have registered a case against the owner of the lab.

Robbed

A private college student was kidnapped and robbed of his valuables here on Thursday.

According to Bharat, a resident of NTY Layout near Raghav Nagar, he was talking to a friend in his car near a temple in Hanumanthanagar when six men robbed him at knife-point and took away his gold chain and mobile phone. They also removed a DVD player and a LCD screen from his car.

The Hanumanthanagar police suspect his friend may be involved.
