Deve Gowda injured

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda has fractured his left arm when he slipped on the floor of the bathroom of his house at Padmanabhanagar in the city early on Saturday.

Mr. Gowda was rushed to a private hospital. He later attended the Janata Dal (S) Legislature Party meeting with a plaster on his left arm.

Addressing the media, Mr. Gowda criticised Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and said the State had been facing shortage of fertilizers on account of lack of preparations made by the Government. Except Karnataka, all States had taken steps to supply fertilizers to farmers. The Government had not taken precautionary measures to address the issue of shortage of fertilizers. The Government had been making all-out efforts to wipe out the Opposition in the State, he alleged.

A few days ago, Minister for Agriculture S.A. Ravindranth had said that the State was facing shortage of fertilizers to the tune of 20,000 tonnes.
