PALAKKAD: The Water Resources Department has warned that shutters of the Kanjirapuzha dam are likely to be opened as the water level in the dam is on the rise in the heavy rain in the past two days. A department communiqué said the shutters could be opened any time and people living on the banks of the Kanjirapuzha river at Kanjirapuzha, Trikkaloor and Churiyode areas of Kanjirapuzha panchayat; Kannopatta, Mannathipuzha and Kozhiyode of Thachanpara panchayat; and Kundukandam, Azhukkanpara, Vazhanippadam, Nendrapuzhapadam, Madhathilkunch and Pullampadam areas of Karakurissi panchayat should be vigilant.
