174 centres to sell organic produce

DAVANGERE: The State Government has decided to establish a centre in every taluk headquarters to promote the sale of agriculture products grown organically, Agriculture Minister S.A. Ravindrandranath has said.

Speaking to presspersons at Bathi village in Davangere taluk here on Saturday, he said over 174 centres would be set up. The Minister said that over 52,202 families in the State were involved in organic farming.

By the end if the year over 1 lakh farmers were expected to take up organic farming. He said that the Government was contemplating providing subsidy to farmers taking up organic farming in order to encourage them.

Later, the Mr. Ravindranath inaugurated a two-day training programme on organic farming for farmers.
