Four more questions from Pakistan

Nirupama Subramanian

ISLAMABAD: The dossier that Pakistan handed over to India on Saturday contains two parts.

The lengthier part of the 36-page dossier is called “investigation update” and documents in detail all the actions Pakistan has taken to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks to book.

The second shorter part details four pieces of additional material that Pakistan wants.

These are a certified copy of a statement, under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code, of the Mumbai magistrate who recorded Ajmal Kasab’s confessional statement; and under the same law, a certified copy of the statement of the forensic experts who examined the GPS device found on the boat on which the terrorists travelled part of the way to Mumbai, plus a certified copy of the statement of experts to establish that the gunmen were in communication with their handlers in Pakistan.

Pakistan also wants copies of the interrogation reports and statements of Fahim Ansari and Sabhauddin, the two Indian nationals arrested in February 2008 who have been charged for alleged involvement in the Mumbai attacks.
