THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Marches have been reported from different parts of the State in support of Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and in protest against the decision of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central Committee to remove Mr. Achuthanandan from the party Polit Bureau for breach of party discipline. Marches by party members and supporters were reported from Neeleswaram in Kasaragod, Peringom in Kannur, Kadavoor, Kazhuthurutti in Kollam, Thakazhi, Mararikulam, Kanjikkuzhy and other parts of Alappuzha, Ullyeri, Kuttiyadi and Changarankulam in Kozhikode, Varod, Panamanna and Ottappalam in Palakkad, Vypeen in Kochi and Kachani in Thiruvananthapuram. Most of these were attended only by a score or a few more activists. Similar marches were reported from some other parts of the State as well. A pro-Achuthanandan rally at Irinjalakuda came under attack reportedly from the rival faction, resulting in injury to one person. Posters supporting Mr. Achuthanandan also appeared in different parts of the State in the course of Sunday following the Central Committee decision.
