Collector P. Amutha handing over the first Fixed Deposit receipt to S. Seshagiri Rao after inaugurating the town branch of the State Bank of India in Dharmapuri on Sunday. DHARMAPURI: The State Bank of India has opened its 50th branch in Salem region in Dharmapuri on Sunday. Six ATMs were also opened. This marked the opening of 154th branch and 1,540th ATM in the country, said K.R. Rajaraman, Regional Manager, Regional Business Office, Salem. He said that two more branches would soon be opened in Papparapatti and Papireddypatti. The bank was contemplating to open more ATMs in the region. The bank was also planning to introduce Business Correspondent model in remote villages to help people operate banking transactions, he added. Through this system, the customers could do their transactions from the Customer Service Centres to be set up in their villages. Collector P. Amutha inaugurated the branch and asked the bank management to open branches in all the blocks.
