The medical council had objected to shortage of teaching staff Teachers from across the State transferred to fill vacancies Bidar: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has sent recommendation to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to allow admission of third batch of students at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS), Bidar. Director and Principal of BRIMS B.O. Hanumanthappa told The Hindu over phone from New Delhi on Monday that he had a copy of MCI’s recommendation to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Dr. Hanumanthappa said that counselling would be held on August 4 for admission to 100 seats. It may be recalled that a team of the MCI had inspected the facilities at BRIMS on May 20 and 21 and had found that there was shortage of teaching staff and had denied permission for admission of fresh batch of students for the academic year 2009-10. Subsequently, there was one more inspection on June 30. Mr. Hanumanthappa wrote in the Compliance Report submitted to the MCI that vacant teaching posts had been filled up through transfer of teaching staff from colleges across the State.
