Councillor Veena Saini’s husband booked

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police have registered a case against Municipal Councillor Veena Saini’s husband for threatening Municipal Corporation of Delhi Commissioner K.S. Mehra.

According to the police, a case has been registered against Naresh Saini under section 353 (assault or criminal force on public servant) and 186 (obstructing public servant from performing his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to Mr. Mehra, Ms. Saini along with her husband had come to meet the him on Monday regarding a complaint which they wanted to register against “corrupt” MCD officials. Mr. Mehra told them that he would look into the matter but Mr. Saini reportedly became aggressive and threatened him.

On an earlier occasion, Ms. Saini and her husband were apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Branch for allegedly taking a bribe. Following this, she was expelled from the Congress.
