Inauguration: Environment Minister T.P.M.Mohideen Khan and Labour Minister T.M.Anbarasan with TNPCB officials at the opening of the Board’s premises in Maraimalai Nagar on Monday. TAMBARAM: Minister for Environment T.P.M. Mohideen Khan on Monday inaugurated the building of the office of Kancheepuram District Environment Engineers of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board in Maraimalai Nagar. This is the ninth office of TNPCB in the State to function from its own building after district offices in Ambattur, Hosur, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Tiruchi, Madurai, Vellore and Chennai. Mr. Mohideen Khan said the building was constructed at a cost of Rs.1.25 crore over a piece of land measuring 24,009 square feet. The Minister said the State government was planning to construct new buildings for the rest of the districts in a phased manner. Labour Minister T.M. Anbarasan, TNPCB Chairman R. Balakrishnan and Member Secretary R. Ramamurthy and Chairperson of Maraimalai Nagar Municipality, Sasikala Arumugham, were among others present. The office of the Kancheepuram District Environment Engineer of the Board was earlier functioning from rented premises in Tambaram.
